Located in scenic and beautiful Northeastern California, Lassen County is on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains, northwest of Reno, Nevada. About the size of Connecticut, Lassen has a wide variety of competitively-priced commercial and industrial sites available with excellent rail, highway, freight and airport access. Housing prices are among the most affordable in California, with a wide variety of choices available including historic homes in Susanville, convenient suburban developments and larger ranch and mountain properties.

Lassen County boasts a nearly ideal climate: generally dry, warm days and cool nights, with an average summer high of 89 degrees and daytime temperatures in the 40’s during the winter months.  The entire county is an outdoor paradise, where the beautiful Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountains meet the desert of the Great Basin. Because of the unique terrain, there's something here for everyone. You can water ski or fish for the world-renowned trout at Eagle Lake, surrounded by mountains covered with standing pines. The beautiful high desert areas of the county attract off-road vehicles and horseback riders, including many who come to view the annual BLM roundup and adoption of wild mustangs at Twin Peaks. The winter season provides access to outstanding snowmobile trails, cross-country and downhill skiing areas, and snowshoe hikes in Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lassen National Forest. Final plans are under review for a new four-seasons resort called Dyer Mountain near the town of Westwood, including development of California’s newest ski resort.

Lassen is also a growing economic player in California, a rural county offering an abundance of human and natural resources.  Several new projects have put us on the forefront of development and expansion in this area of the state.  We are actively seeking new businesses – especially manufacturers – that are looking to relocate or expand in our region.  Site location assistance is provided directly through the County’s Economic Development/Housing Division and enhanced by our Geographic Information System.
