Of all regional economic development marketing groups in California, we’re the oldest and largest. But those aren’t liabilities. They’re measures of our effectiveness. We’ve gotten where we are precisely because we’re movers and shakers – and we’ve never slowed down!

Our goal, as a non-profit California corporation, is simply this: to expose a global audience of business decision-makers to the profit-enhancing opportunities available in the 20 counties that top our golden state. These are “top” counties in every sense of the word, too. And once we’ve attracted the attention of global companies to our region, we do everything we can to assist those companies in building and expanding their business. After all, their success is our success, collectively, creating employment, promoting prosperity, and maintaining an economy that’s both healthy and diverse.

The Upstate California Economic Development Council (Upstate CA EDC) was founded in 1989. Today, it is supported by the pooled resources of 13 Northern California community-based economic development organizations as well as the California Trade and Commerce Agency and the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

Our board of directors is composed of professional economic development specialists from throughout the region. Thus, we’re able to offer companies objective data and a sound rationale for their site selection and capacity development decisions. It is a hallmark of our association that we provide such counsel professionally, confidentially, and without charge or obligation.
