Del Norte County is located in the northwestern corner of California bordered by Humboldt County to the south, Siskiyou County to the east and the State of Oregon to the north. The 1998 population of the County is 28,400 with the majority residing within the boundaries of Crescent City, the county seat and only incorporated city. Del Norte County is 1,068 square miles and is bisected by U.S. Highways 101 and 199.
Crescent City, located at the junction of these two highways, is 370 miles north of San Francisco and 330 miles south of Portland, Oregon. Crescent City has an all-weather working harbor with easy access to the Pacific Ocean. Crescent City has an airport with both commercial and private aircraft facilities and the Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford, Oregon, is within a two-hour drive.
