Spectacular Siskiyou County is located in northern California adjacent to the state of Oregon. The 6,281 square miles of area make Siskiyou County the fifth largest county in the state.
The western half of the County is dominated by mountains and steep canyons, including the canyon drainages of the Klamath, Scott, and Salmon Rivers. Crowned by Mount Shasta, the eastern part of the county is comprised of lava plateaus, including the Modoc Plateau and the Lava Beds National Monument, and fields of alfalfa.
Interstate 5 runs through the center of the county, providing market gateways to the Pacific Northwest, Nevada, and Central and Southern California. Additionally, US-97, originating in the city of Weed, carries significant over-the-road truck traffic between Oregon and California. Union Pacific is the principal rail provider through the County. Commercial air service is available at the cities of Klamath Falls, Medford, and Redding. Pacific Bell serves the I-5 corridor with telephone services. PacifiCorp is the power provider serving the County.
Recreational opportunities are limited only by one's imagination- every season provides a new slate of possibilities. Fans of snow or water skiing, snowboarding, hiking, hunting, fishing, nature photography, mountain climbing, boating, horseback riding, and history will find a plethora of activities in Siskiyou County.
